Saran Read (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Te Wairoa / Rongowhakaata) has twelve years’ experience in business education. She is the owner of Infinite Learning, a business education company based in Hawke’s Bay.
Saran has been a facilitator for Te Wānanga o Aotearoa’s business programmes since 2006 in Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay. Since 2008, she has taught the Certificate in Money Management (NZQA Level 3), Certificate in Small Business Management (NZQA Level 4), and the Certificate in Small Business Management and Project Management (NZQA Level 4).
Saran also contracts to other providers to deliver programmes in financial literacy and workplace literacy, numeracy, and leadership and has previously run whānau workshops in rural areas. She has delivered programmes using a variety of modes, including classroom-based, marae-based and through webinar/seminar formats.
Saran holds a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese and English from the University of Waikato and a Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) from Victoria University. In addition, Saran holds a Level 4 Certificate in Te Ara Reo Māori from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, a National Certificate in Adult Education and Training from the Southern Institute of Technology, a National Certificate in Adult Literacy Education from Tairawhiti Polytechnic, a Certificate in Small Business Management (NZQA Level 4) from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training from the Australian School of Commerce and Management, and an RSA Certificate in Teaching English to Adults from Cambridge University.
Saran has been the owner of Infinite Learning since 2007. As well as contracting to Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, Infinite Learning contracts to other providers to deliver programmes in financial literacy as well as workplace literacy, numeracy, and leadership programmes. Her business training and coaching draws on her years of experience working in Australian corporate business as well as New Zealand SMEs with an international focus.
Saran has been involved with predominantly Māori business owners and future business owners in both Gisborne and Hawkes Bay. Many of Saran’s past tauira are marae trustees in Hawkes Bay, with whom she maintains good relations. She also has connections to Waipatu, Omahu, Te Haroto, Runanga, and her local marae Matahiwi.
