Peter Waaka (Tuhourangi – Ngāti Wahiao) lives and works in Queenstown. Peter has nearly 30 years’ experience in business education and consultancy.
Peter has taught at secondary, polytechnic, wānanga, and university level. He works as a principal tutor for the business and money management programmes at the School of Thought in Queenstown. Peter is also a qualified life balance coach. In addition to these roles, Peter is a facilitator at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa where he currently delivers the Certificate in Money Management (NZQA Level 3) and the Certificate in Small Business Management (NZQA Level 4) programmes. He also facilitates business courses for the Southern Institute of Technology in Central Otago and Southland.
Peter holds a Master of Arts (with Honours) in Anthropology from the University of Auckland, as well as several qualifications in Hotel Management. He also holds a National Certificate in Adult Education and Training and a National Certificate in Literacy and Numeracy Education.
Peter has significant management experience. He has worked as a management consultant for various organisations and education providers since 1990. He currently operates under Param Consulting Trustees Limited. Peter spent three years in Wellington with the Ministry of Māori Development as the Manager of Research, and later as the Acting Manager of Treaty Issues.
Peter is a highly experienced mediator. He spent two years at the Race Relations Office (which has since merged and become the Human Rights Commission) where he carried out extensive work in the areas of management and mediation.
