Jarrad McKay (Ngāti Kahungunu and Tainui) is the current director and owner of Rocket Surgery business consultancy and director and owner of Pūhā and Pakehā, a food business that serves modern Māori fusion cuisine. He is an experienced business educator and business mentor.
Jarrad has over 10 years’ experience as a business educator. He coaches in all areas of business planning, business management, human resources, leadership, business systems, and financial management. This includes business development and marketing, market analysis, customer behaviour, media analysis, and advertising placement.
Jarrad is currently a lecturer at the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT). He teaches management, marketing, and economics from certificate to degree level. In addition, he is a business mentor and coach for numerous business owners across a wide range of industries. He is a facilitator in corporate environment training for the New Zealand Blood Service, Air New Zealand, and the New Zealand Boating Academy among others. Jarrad is also a facilitator and mentor for the Certificate in Applied Small Business Growth and Development (NZQA Level 5), and has previously been a facilitator and coach for the Certificate in Small Business Management (NZQA Level 4) at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Jarrad has also been an accredited business mentor for Te Puni Kōkiri’s Māori Business Facilitation Service.
Jarrad holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and a Master of Business Administration, both from Auckland University of Technology.
Jarrad is the director and owner of Rocket Surgery, a business consultancy which has operated since 2006. Since 2013 Jarrad has also been a director and owner of Pūhā and Pakehā, a food business that specialises in a fusion of traditional Māori cuisine with modern foods.
Jarrad is a current member of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, the Auckland Marketing Association, the New Zealand Speakers Association, and the Auckland Street Food Co-op. From 2007-2010 he was a member of the Auckland Māori Business Network.
